Brand Spotlight: Poppin

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Vanderbilt chapter.

Did you do the Color Run so you could be covered in blue, pink, and purple, not because of the actual 5K? Do you consider neon a staple of your wardrobe? When you go to NYC, are you the only one wearing a colorful overcoat in a sea of black? If you answered yes to these questions, check out Poppin, a fairly new brand that’s helping college kids like you and me “work happy.” They use color to spice up school supplies and desk accessories, making your boring 5-subject notebook a thing of the past. I already did my school shopping for this semester, but I am, without shame, preparing to buy another haul of supplies from Poppin as we speak. Those notebooks and pens in our Her Campus Survival Kit were just too cute!!!

The only problem I have with Poppin is their website- they offer so many products, and it’s hard to figure out what you actually need when you’re on there! But no fear, collegiettes, that’s what I’m here for! I’ve delved deep into the Poppin website so you don’t have to. Read on for my list of must-haves so you, too, can work happy :)

1) Pink Starter Set

My love for the color pink becomes downright charitable in October. This lovely month of pumpkin and Halloween was also deemed National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in 1985, making pink and its supporters happy for over 25 years. Poppin is joining in the obsession by donating 20% of proceeds from their pink collection to the Young Survivors Coalition, a non-profit that supports and educates younger women about breast cancer. I personally love this Pink Starter Set, priced at only $40. Every item, from the stapler to the cup holder, will liven up your dorm room desk and make it pop with color! I also love that the kit comes with 12 pink pens that actually have black ink… because while I love the color, I have a feeling that my teachers and TA’s might not agree.

2) Bikini Large Spiral Notebook

If you like having a notebook for every class, Poppin is the brand for you. They have tons of cute color combos, so you don’t ever have to buy an ugly notebook just to differentiate between classes. I love this large spiral notebook in Bikini, but Poppin also offers many more notebooks in varying shapes and sizes to suite anyone’s classroom style. You can even get some of the soft-cover notebooks, which we received in our Back-to-School Survival Kit, personalized with your initial!

3) Gold Map Tacks

I love to decorate my room with pictures and magazine cutouts, which often means that I have to buy a lot of boring push pins. That’s why I’m so excited to buy these fun Gold Map Tacks! They come in many other colors, from silver to red, so you can buy any hue that best suits the vibe of your room. What a great way to add flair to your room without making a huge change, am I right?

4) Wall Art

Are you constantly looking for a dose of inspiration while you’re studying or writing a paper? Consider buying some Wall Art from Poppin, like this “Be Awesome Today” print, which features bright colors and an inspirational message to satisfy anyone’s yearning for inspiration. If I had this framed print right above my desk, I might feel less inclined to scour Pinterest for comforting quotes, thereby saving me tons of time. Bye-bye procrastination!

5) Lime Green Pebble Eraser

Not looking to make a huge investment in school supplies? Buy this cute eraser for only $2 to get a cheap yet concentrated dose of color. I know I’ll be stocking up on these in all of my favorite colors, just so I can carry them around and pull one out when I’m feeling glum!

Next time you’re in the market for school supplies, visit Poppin and start working happy!

Stacey Oswald, originally from South Florida, came to Vanderbilt as a member of the class of 2015 and got involved with HerCampus her freshman year. She became assistant editor that year and is now the Campus Correspondent for Vanderbilt HC as a sophomore. Stacey is currently a columnist for Ask Miss A- Nashville and the life section of The Hustler. She's also very involved in her sorority, Kappa Delta, as well as Invisible Children. Outside of school and her extracurriculars, Stacey finds happiness in many sources, the most crucial being exercise and the sun. She loves to attend exercise classes and is an avid runner; she recently completed the Country Music Half Marathon. She also loves Vitamin D, especially when on the beach- though of course, she only soaks up the sun after applying SPF. A few of the things Stacey couldn't live without? Good food (especially from Sweet Cece's, Bricktops, and Samurai Sushi), great books (The Hypnotist's Love Story is a recent favorite), her family back in Florida, her wonderful boyfriend, and all of the great friends she's made at Vanderbilt.
