Tell me about the research you are involved in

Our research is studying a fungus called Chytrid, which is wiping out amphibian populations world wide. My lab is studying the strain of the fungus on one species of frogs, the African Three-Toed Frogs.

How did you get involved with the research lab with frogs?

I started off as the research assistant for this lab, and this semester I got to get involved with the research itself.

Are you interested in pursuing a career in research?

No, I’m actually planning on attending medical school after graduation. I want to be a pediatric trauma surgeon.

What is your favorite things about Alpha Chi Omega, and why did you want to be VP Risk Management?

My favorite part is our sisterhood, because it has allowed me to meet so many unique women and hear their stories. I grew up in a very small and conservative town, so being able to meet all these women has helped me grow as a person, and made me appreciate Alpha Chi more. I wanted to be VP Risk Management because I wanted to serve my sisters in a practical way, by creating fun and safe date events, and being involved in their well-being as a whole. My position allows me to give talks, and bring people in from the PCC and Project Safe to give presentations and workshops. Basically, I care about my sisters so much that I wanted to be more involved in the chapter to .

What is your favorite thing about Vanderbilt?

There are so many things here that I would not be able to have in most other places, for example I know I never would have been a Russian major if I went to a small state school at home. Vanderbilt has given me so many opportunities to learn and grow as a person.
