As we all know February is the month of “Love” but it is also Black History Month. The Collegiate Men of Valdosta State University decided to combine both and create the “Week of the Gentleman” also known as #WOTG. They put on some great events the entire week, so keep reading to find out exactly what you may have missed out on.

The Bachelor

CMVSU kicked off WOTG with their rendition of the infamous television show, “The Bachelor.” It was hosted by CM’s very own Xavier Mitchell and Shane Daniel was the bachelor and his three lovely contestants were Ms. Daria Thomas, Ms. Clairisa Williams , and Ms. Deja Merritt. The ladies had to answer three rounds of various questions. After hearing the responses Mr. Daniel proceeded to give his responses, BUT the catch was that it was not Mr. Daniel speaking. Speaking for him was Mr. Jai’Kel “Jay” Robinson. In the end contestant number one Ms. Daria Thomas won the heart of Mr. Daniel. It was filled with laughter and in the end a success.

State of the Black Man in America

Tuesday, CMVSU collaborated with the men of the Mu Omicron chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. on a forum to discuss some of the issues the black man faces in today’s world, but most importantly in our very community. To discuss these issues were a couple staff members and four NPHC members. It was an amazing event that really got the students talking.

Rose Presentation

Early Wednesday afternoon CM made an effort to brighten up every woman’s day that crossed their path by passing out roses. I tell you, it’s small gestures like this that will really brighten up a girls day. Thank you.

Women’s Appreciation Dinner

CMVSU hosted yet another wonderful women’s appreciation dinner. This is an annual dinner that the collegiate men put together to show their appreciation for ALL of the women of VSU. It is a free dinner and all you have to do is RSVP. They fed us great food, had some amazing entertainment, like singing, spoken word, and they even danced with some of the women. They also presented awards to some hardworking women. The guys really worked hard on the dinner and made sure that we really felt special. I can’t speak for everyone, but I know I felt appreciated.

Pack the Plex

This event was more so just to get the student body out to support the basketball team. It was a pretty good turn out if I must say so myself.

VSUBB

Saturday night CMVSU hosted the annual VSU Blazing Blitz, and this year they decided on a masquerade ball theme. Everyone dressed up in their most beautiful ball gowns and “grown and sexy” outfits and slayed! There were refreshments, cute little finger foods and some great music. Put all of that together and you have yet another successful event.

Overall this was an amazing week. CMVSU really knows how to make a girl feel special but most importantly they appreciate women. Thank you so much for #WOTG.
