Meet Maddie & Blake! Maddie is an alumni VSU cheerleader working hard to finish her Education degree. When Maddie isn’t studying, you can find her cheering on Blake as he gets buckets for the VSU Men’s Basketball Team. Maddie and Blake have been together for two and a half years and are our first Campus Cutie Couple for this week! Get the dish from Maddie on her and Blake’s relationship here!
HC: Where did you and Blake first meet?
Maddie: Blake and I met [in] college. He played ball and I cheered. We had mutual friends and started talking.
HC: What are three things you like the most about Blake?
Maddie: I like [that] he’s the opposite of me. I’m outgoing and he’s super quiet so he mellows me out. We like a lot of the same things. He’s very motivated and driven.
HC: Are you and Blake the same age?
Maddie: I’m actually older than Blake by eight months. He is the first person I’ve ever dated younger than me. [Laughs]
HC: What would you say is the foundation of your relationship?
Maddie: The foundation would probably be honesty. We’ve been through literally rock bottom and came out of it so we’ve come a long way together.
HC: Interesting! So based on those experiences, what is some advice that you would give other couples from you and Blake?
Maddie: Any advice I would give is to be honest even if it’s bad. Every relationship has its bad times but you can get through them if you want to.
