Things To Do in Atlanta: Thrifting Atlanta

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Valdosta chapter.

Atlanta is best known for its music, fashion, and southern hospitality. Families from all over the world visit this beautiful city to explore its rich history. From walking through the historic Centennial Olympic Park to learning about what makes a Coke a Coke, Atlanta has hotspots and tours that would appeal to everyone in your family. There is a huge list of things to do in Atlanta, but they often leave off the best thing to do: The Thrifting Atlanta Tour. What first started in 2012 as a social network for thrifting lovers and newbies, resale business owners, and “thrifting” fashion bloggers is now a resource for thrifters as well as those who wish to learn more about thrift shopping in Atlanta.

The beautiful creator of Thrifting Atlanta, Keren Charles, is a marketing and communication manager and has a passion for thrifting. The four items she thrifts for are sequin and shear dresses, designer handbags and jeans. She shares her joy of thrifing by providing an online directory and exclusive discounts for members shopping with Thrifting Atlanta’s very own tote bags and taking over 40 people of all ages and backgrounds on a tour to multiple thrift stores around Atlanta. Being chaffueured around the great city of Atlanta in a charter bus while being served lunch and light refreshments are only a few perks of this tour. The warm greetings from store owners and decorated welcome signs makes the experience more memorable.

The tour is one big bonding experience where you are free to express your style through what you buy while also getting discounts from 10 up to 50 percent off! Keren even hosts a mini show and tell after each stop so everyone can admire some of the best thrifted items people find at the different thrift and consignment stores. The Thrifting Atlanta Tour creates such an uplifting and positive environment. You will learn a valuable lesson that: You’re never too old for show and tell, and the person next to you could become your new bestfriend.
