Recovering from Spring Break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Valdosta chapter.

Spring Break came and it went. For what felt like a split second, most of us were free from school and a lot of worries. Now, it’s back to reality. A lot of us still have fun and relaxation on our mind—which makes it difficult to get back into “school mode.” Although we all wish that we were still on break, it’s time to get back into the swing of things and finish this semester strong. Here are some tips for recovering from Spring Break.

1. Remind yourself of the end goal

Whether you’re graduating this semester, want to make the Dean’s List or just want to get through the semester—do it! Remember the goals you set for yourself at the beginning of the semester. Take time to regroup and refocus your energy into doing what you set out to do.

2. Set new goals

Try setting new goals and giving yourself something fresh to focus on. Whether the goal is big or small it still gives you something to look forward to. Instead of going through the rest of the semester in a funk, recharge with some new goals to accomplish.

3. Accept the inevitable

Let’s face it, although we don’t want to still be in school right now, we have no choice. Regardless on whether we want to or not we still have tests, quizzes, projects and assignments to complete. Our responsibilities aren’t going anywhere so let’s just accept that and push through. Once you accept that it’s inevitable, you may gain a new perspective on things.

4. Do your work in advance

“Work smarter not harder.” One thing you may want to try is revisiting your syllabi and seeing what assignments you have due soon, instead of draining yourself with procrastination try getting a headstart. If you get started earlty then you will put more effort into it which may result in a better grade.

5. Make time for a little bit of relaxation

Life shouldn’t be about all work and no play. Make sure that you make time for yourself and to have some fun. Whether you take an hour out of your day or dedicate the weekend to yourself, you deserve it. Make sure not to overwork yourself.
