It is important to keep a balance between treating yourself and catering to others in your life. It’s normal to feel guilty for putting yourself first when you have so many other things on your plate to worry about. But, some days you just have to. Life has a way of weighing you down when trying to maintain and balance. While you’re physically tired, you become mentally tired, and then comes the negative energy spewing around you just from your own self.

Always remember, you’re your best self when you’re happy. Take time to have alone time and self care time to make you happy. Make a list, manage your time, take a walk, treat yourself to a day off. Even if it means eliminating an important duty for the day! Putting yourself first sometimes involves risks and doing things that are difficult, but it will benefit you in the long run.

Life is short, don’t waste it wishing you had taken better care of yourself and being consumed in adulting. It is okay to put you first!

I prefer to go by Kei. I'm a senior in college attending Valdosta State University and an eyelash technician. Writing is my safe space and my favorite way of communicating. I have a lot of improvement to make, but I still have a passion for it. I want to write a book some day, but until then, I express myself through journaling and blogs.
