Hakuna MaTATAS Fashion Show

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Valdosta chapter.

Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity Inc. (APO) kicked off our Fall Break by hosting the Hakuna MaTATAS fashion show in the University Center. The event was dedicated to Breast Cancer awareness. They collaborated with other organizations including the Legends Modeling Troupe, VSU Mass Choir, and dance performances from organizations like Delta Phi Delta Dance Fraternity Inc. Although this was their organization third fashion show, Jasmine Lewis and Josh Hopkins hosted APO’s first Breast Cancer Awareness fashion show and informed us of important facts about Breast Cancer. The show was divided into three scenes and three intermission performances and the runway way lit up with pink décor and white Christmas lights. If you missed this out of this beautiful tribute to Breast Cancer awareness, here are several pictures from some of the scenes:

The first scene was opened up by some talented ladies dancing to a mix of Beyoncé songs. This scene consisted of business casual outfits with a splash of pink. A great way to open up the show and get the crowd hyped.

The second scene was opened by the VSU Mass Choir who sang Smile by Kirk Franklin. This scene was everyone’s favorite. The Hakuna MaTATAS scene consisted of some uniquely decorated bras. Some of the bras included mirrors and feathers. One of them even displayed lights. The gentlemen sported different breast cancer t-shirts.

The last and final scene was opened by the Delta Phi Delta Fraternity Inc. dancing to a remix of Kanye West’s Stronger, paying homage to anyone fighting Breast Cancer or that has lost their life to Breast Cancer. Some of the ladies walked flawlessly with wings and everyone who followed wore nice all white outfits to close the show.
