I personally love “Grown Folks” music. It’s the type of music that makes you believe in love, feel good, and its a nice break from the violent, vulgar misogynistic music of today. But if you’re wondering what “Grown Folks” music is, its basically classic soul, r&b, funk, hip-hop, indie soul combined, to produce sexy music for the…”older crowd”. In other words, its music your mom listens to on cleaning day or on the way from church. It can include older singers from back in the day, like Luther Vandross, Lionel Richie, Anita Baker or newer artists we listen to today and everything in between. Below are a few songs, that I personally picked from my mom’s “Grown Folks” playlist. Minus the boring songs.

1. Zoom by The Commodores (1977)

“I may be just a foolish dreamer…but I don’t care…”

2. Angel by Anita Baker (1983)

“If I could, I’d give you the world…”

3. (Lay Your Head On My) Pillow by Tony! Toni! Tone (1993)

“Lay your head on my pillow, and just relax…”

4. Nothing Even Matters by Lauryn Hill (1998)

“There’s still no place I’d rather be, ‘Cause nothin even matters to me…”

5. Love Calls by Kem (2002)

“There’s nowhere to hide when love is callin your name…”

6. Far Away by Kindred The Family Soul

” I want to go to a place that lovers go, I want to do the things that lovers do…”

8. Seconds Of Pleasure by Van Hunt (2004)

“I’ve become amused by the little things, Seconds of pleasure…”
