HC: What made you choose VSU?
Dowling Payne: I wanted a school with a good media program, and my sister went here and really enjoyed it.
HC: What has been your greatest experience here?
DP: I have LOVED working with the athletes. I get to interview players and get to know them off the field/court and it’s so cool to find out more about them and what they love about VSU and the athletics here.
HC: What do you plan to do with your degree in Mass Media?
DP: I’m pursuing a career in sports broadcast/hosting. I love getting to know people from all different backgrounds and talking to them about what they love. I have a passion for sports and I can’t wait to see what the future holds!
HC: Did you play any sports in high school?
DP: I personally played tennis but I have always loved baseball, football, and newly loving basketball!
HC: What is your favorite quality about yourself?
DP: Oh gosh. I am so thankful for my ability to connect with all different types of people. I have a true passion for people and love just getting to know everyone I can, sharing a smile! [laughs]
HC: Who is your role model?
DP: My role models are my sisters. They embody everything I want to be. [They are] strong women with beautiful hearts.
HC: Celebrity crush?
DP: Mike Trout. He’s a baseball player for The Angels.
HC: What are your favorite qualities in a guy?
DP: I love guys who are motivated and passionate about something. I’m a very driven person and I want someone who has goals and dreams, and is pursuing them. And someone who loves their family and The Lord, that’s a big plus!
HC: What are your turn-offs in a guy?
DP: Cockiness! OMG, I can’t say that enough. Nothing is more unattractive than a guy who thinks he is better than everyone or can get whatever he wants. Being humble and confident is a wonderful thing.
HC: What is the first thing you notice about a guy?
DP: I’m really short, but I LOVE tall guys [laughs] or a smile.
HC: What candy would best describe you and why?
DP: I’m going to go with gummy bears…because they’re my favorite. They’re little and cute but there’s so many flavors, just like my personality! [laughs]
