Campus Celebrity William Jimerson ’14

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Valdosta chapter.

He’s the jack of all trades as well as one of the coolest guys around, it’s Will Jimerson! Will is a senior here at Valdosta State University majoring in Internantional Business. But he won’t be here for long, as he’s putting on his grauation cap on May 10th. Even though Will is leaving, he’s definitely made his mark and all of his incredible accomplishments will never be forgotten. You probably voted for him as well, for he is our Student Government Association Prez as well as an active particpant in many other organizations. I talked to Will one-on-one to find out just how he balances it all.

What are you involved in on campus?

I am SGA president, a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated, Housing and Resident, National Resident Honorary, Society of Leadership and Success and Order of Omega Greek Honors Society.

How do you manage everything on your plate, from all things you’re apart of as well as your personal life?

My planner is my life. It’s colored-coded by activity. I have to do a lot of time management and planning out, even down to when to eat and sleep. I make sacricfices with my personal life. I just try to balance out my capabilites.

What inspires you?

The people (students) that I serve, and my personal destiny. I know that there is something greater for me soon so I always put my best foot forward. Oh, and my family of course.

What has been your best experience so far?

I’ve had so many… But I have to say becoming an Alpha was one of the biggest events. Winning student elections, having Hill Harper here and being a Resident Assistant were also really great experiences. Being an RA gave me connections with everyone, more than just students. It taught me how to be influential to my peers.

What are some obstacles you’ve faced to get to where you are now?

Being defeated. But being defeated is apart of life; in order to be successful you must be defeated. I’m also my biggest critic. I over think a lot and I’m never satisfied with what I do. I can be hard on myself.

What advice would you give someone who aspires to be like you?

Take advantage of every opportunity you get. Put your best foot forward and cherish the relationships you make here at VSU.

What are your plans after graduation?

I plan to apply to grad school to pursure higher level education. I want to get my MNB and go to the doctoral level.

What’s your favorite thing about Valdosta State?

The people, faculty, staff, custodians… We’re all a big Blazer family. Connecting with them is great. The appearance is also an asset. The architecture of the buildings are beautiful and you can’t forget the palm trees. I also like that it’s close enough and far away enough from home.

I'm Felicia Burnett! I am a sophomore at Valdosta State University. My major is Exercise Physiology but I have a deep passion for writing!
