Meet Chris West! You have probably seen this guy in the Communication building or better yet coaching our beloved football to to their countless victories. Chris is a great motivator and mentor to many aroud campus and thats why he is one of this week’s campus celebrity!

HC: What brought you to Valdosta State University?
Chris: I originally came to VSU to be on the radio and throw parties!
HC: What all are you involved in here at VSU?
Chris: I am Student Assistant with the Football Team and that pretty much takes up the majority of my time!
HC: How did you get into coaching?
Chris: I used to play football but once I left school and came back I realized my playing days were behind me but I still wanted to contribute. I ask the coaching staff and theyou welcomed me with open arms.
HC: Being a college student yourself, how were you able to get your players to respect your authority?
Chris: I deal with my players in a respectful manner. I am not into belittling them or embarrassing them. I explain to them that I’m here to help them achieve their goals, whether they deal with football or not!
HC: What do you want to do with your major? What’s your dream job?
Chris: My dream job would be to be the General Manager of the Washington Redskins! I also hope to have my own shelters for teenagers.
HC: What are three words you use to motivate yourself?
Chris: It’s Already Done!
HC: How do you feel about what you’ve accomplished so far?
Chris: I have done so much in so many areas but I am encouraged to do more!
HC: What advice would you give someone who inspires to achieve what you have accomplished so far?
Chris: I would tell them to trust your dreams because God gave them to you! I would also say you work ethic must overshadow you goals! Last, but not least, desire to be more effective than famous!
HC: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Chris: Helping a big time program win championships! Helping our youth achieve their dreams!
HC: With a lot on your plate, how are you able to balance it all?
Chris: I don’t sleep for more than six hours! It can get overwhelming but I focus on those who have sacrificed with, for and because of me and that keeps me going!
