When you think of the 90s, a sense of nostalgia seems to wash over you. It was a pretty iconic decade. Not to mention, the 90s were a big part of our childhood. Let’s take a look back at some of the music, fashion, and pop culture trends from this decade, and see why the 90s were all that!

1. Boy Bands and Girl Groups

Before Justin Timberlake and Beyonce became award-winning solo artists, they started out in music groups. Timberlake was part of the boy band N’Sync and Beyonce was part of the girl group Destiny’s Child. In the 90s we saw the rise of boy bands, such as Backstreet Boys and Boyz 2 Men, and girl groups like the Spice Girls and TLC.

2. Disney Renaissance

Do you remember the Disney films, The Lion King, Mulan, and Aladdin? All of these films came out in the 90s. During this decade, Disney had a huge success of box office and critically acclaimed movies. It was later called the Disney Renaissance and was a nod to the many Disney films that premiered from the years 1989-1999.

3. Fashion

The 90s are probably most well known for the fashion. Chokers, overalls, and grunge looks, were all the latest trends from back in the day. With the rise of supermodels and fashion icons, 90s fashion was all about making a statement. If you wanted to be rad, you had to keep up with the different looks the decade had to offer.

4. 90s Slang

Ever wondered what the lingo was during the 90s? Almost every clique/group had their way of saying things. Some words and phrases were made popular due to music artists, films, and pop culture icons. College students in the 90s were probaly using words like these:

– “As if”

– “Bling-Bling”

– “Dope”

– “Scrub”

– “Talk to the Hand”
