It may not have been your first choice for higher education, but you’re here now. And even when you hate it, you love it. Here are 9 reasons you’re glad you go to Valdosta State.

1. We’re 20 miles from Florida

We’re closer to Jacksonville Beach than we are to Atlanta. Rejoice, my friends.

2. The cold weather isn’t so bad

Valdosta has its days, but it’s very unlikely you’ll ever freeze to death.

3. The campus is beautiful

And let us not ever forget it.

4. Sometimes the small city has its perks

Sure, we all miss the large city life at times. However, I think it’s safe to say we’re all grateful for the amount of money we save on gas here.

5. It’s cheaper than most other universities in Georgia

Hello?! In what world is this not something to be happy about?!

5. Valdosta is just cheap in general

Living here is SO much less expensive than Atlanta. I know I’m not the only broke college student here.

6. VSU opens doors for a lot of opportunities

Most students don’t realize the validity of this statement. Because VSU is a smaller school, there’s less competition! There are plenty of internships in the city, just do some research.

7. It’s a small school with a large school feel

You get the best of both worlds: a campus set up like a big university, yet a small classroom setting resembling a local college. You can’t get the one-on-one attention from your professors at UGA like you can here!

8. You met some of your greatest friends here.

Whether in class or at a party, you connected with your now best friend, boyfriend, or group of friends that you consider life-long relationships.

9. It’s home now.

You talk about how much you hate Valdosta, but then you visit your hometown for a weekend and suddenly you miss your college friends and cozy room. Face it, guys…for now, this is home.
