If you’re anything like myself, you have had a countdown to summer for a while now. While the long days and late nights are something most of us look forward to, we need to make sure we are prepared! Here’s a list of things you will need to get you started on those three months that will be here before we know it.
1. Sunscreen
Whether you are laying out on the beach or just walking from one destination to the next, sunscreen is a must! While many people recommend applying sunscreen to at least the face everyday, it is especially important in the summertime. We may not realize it, but most of us spend much more of our time outdoors during this time of year. Especially with the sun setting later, there is more exposure time given to us all. Do yourself a favor, prevent wrinkles and decrease your chances of a future skin problem.
2. Water Bottle
As with sunscreen, drinking the correct amount of water is important all year ’round. However, it could make or break us with higher activity levels and sky rocketing temperatures. Not only will staying hydrated keep your skin looking great, it will keep you feeling great! Before the heat fully kicks in, treat yourself to a cute water bottle that will hold a good bit. Hopefully, something visually appealing and new will motivate you to drink water all throughout the day. Find out how many of those bottles you have to drink each day and make it a priority.
3. Refreshers
Deodorant, scented lotion, blotting sheets, figure out what is vital in your life to stay fresh and keep it with you! We all know along with summer comes sweat, so be prepared. Keep an extra deodorant in your car and scented lotion in your purse. Blotting sheets will keep you from looking shiny, and a little extra makeup can go a long way to keep you looking fresh. A lot of people tend to be on the go when summer comes around and don’t always have a chance to freshen up when it’s needed most. Plan ahead and avoid feeling gross when sweat gets the best of you.
4. Go-To Hair Style
Sometimes we may want to get somewhere quickly while other times we just might not care enough to go full glam when it comes to our hair. This is all understandable, either plans come up last minute, or we don’t feel like slaving over a flat iron just to be defeated by frizz. Instead of feeling like we have to go all summer without having nice hair, find out what works for you ahead of time. Does your hair slay in a messy fishtail? Do you feel sleek with a tight sock bun? Play around and spend some time on YouTube to find something you can do with your hair that is both effortless and appealing.
5. Time Fillers
Summer is certainly the time for us all to take a breather and relax! There is a lot of down time and we need to be ready for it. If there is anything you want to get done over the summer, work on it anytime you get bored. It can be a book, or a few, a series, a personal project, anything you always want to do, but never have time for. This way, you don’t have a chance to get bored if you don’t have too much going on.
6. Plans
I’m all about down time and relaxation, trust me; but at the very same time, we don’t want to let our summer go to waste. While planning is something we definitely want to take lightly during the summertime, that doesn’t mean we need to toss it out the window. I’m not saying to give yourself a schedule to follow seven days a week from 7 a.m.-10 p.m. It just seems important to have certain goals you want to accomplish or certain things you want to do in your time off. This can be as structured or relaxed as you’d like. Don’t forget to give yourself the summer you deserve, but make sure you have something to tell people in the fall when they ask what you did all summer.
We are all so close to this beloved time of year. Stay focused and finish the year strong, we will soon be rewarded!
HCXO!
