When transitioning from high school to college we tend to lose friends, but luckily we gain new ones down the road. While finding ourselves, we also find out the different personalities that come with the people we associate ourselves with! Here are 5 types of friends we all have!

1. The friend who thinks that everything is (or at least should be) about her

We all have that one friend who always finds a way to revert a conversation back to herself! No matter what the topic, if it’s not in some way related to her, it isn’t important. You know she means well, but really!? Sometimes you have to sit her down and say, “Hey girl, I hear you, but right now it’s about me!” Just like relationships, friendships are about sacrifice and give and take. No one wants to be in a one-sided friendship!

2. The friend who is opposite sex obsessed

Just like many other people around campus, I’m single and ready to mingle! But many of us have that one friend who is a little too boy crazy! Everywhere you go, she is on edge, ready to be seen and heard! She may also be a tad too aggressive and flirty with one or more guys around campus! Although your approach is a little different than hers when it comes to getting a date, she is still a good friend. Her reputation isn’t as squeaky as yours, but you know her best qualities! Birds of a feather very well may flock together, but not in this case.

3. The friend who spends every waking moment with her lover

We all have that one friend who is madly in love and places her boyfriend on a ridiculously high pedestal! Anytime you plan to go out, she’d rather stay in the house with her boo. When and ONLY when they have an argument will she peak her head from under her rock for advice, and then she disappears when everything clears up! She fails to realize that boys come and go, but friends are down for life!

4. That friend who expects you to partake in all her ridiculous party habits

Ever since college, going out and having a good time has been a part of your new experience. No more curfews or having your parents’ car back at a certain time; you’re free to live it up! But we all have that one friend who solely associates with us because she needs a “turn up partner”! Of course, you want to go out Saturday night but we all know Sundays are dedicated to homework (or is it just me?!). Consequently, that one friend of ours never mentions the big test we have on Monday, completely unconcerned about us failing it!

5. The guy friend in the friend zone

Aside from our female friends, we all have that one male friend who wants to be more than friends. Or maybe you want to be more; either way, someone was friend-zoned! And everyone loathes the friend zone. But hey, some of the best relationships arise from the friend zone ashes, so don’t completely rule out the possibility!

No matter what type of friends you have, you have chosen them to be a part of your life. We all have those friends who love, grow, laugh and cry with us. They are bigger Gladiators than we are on Thursday nights and always tell us how cute we look! We wouldn’t trade them for the world!
