5 Places to Visit While You’re Young

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Valdosta chapter.

Marriage, bills, a career, kids…these are all things that many of us will have to deal with in the future. It can be difficult trying to balance all of those things and still have a life. That’s why the best time to go out and see the world is right now while we’re still young and obligation free, so to speak. There is a ton of places for you to visit while you aren’t worrying about a job or kids, and they will probably be more enjoyable now than they will be in the future. Take advantage of your youth and take a look at some of the best places to visit below!

1. Las Vegas

Las Vegas also known as “Sin City” is one of the best places to visit while you’re young and care-free. Whether it’s nine in the morning or two o’clock at night this city is always alive. You can shop, gamble, and eat your way through Caesar’s Palace or travel to the top of the Stratosphere Hotel & Casino Tower for some blood-curdling thrill rides that includes a roller coaster that sends you 27 feet over the edge of the 109-story tower. Vegas is great for young adults, because, well…where else can you eat, drink, party (gamble!) and travel to different cities around the world all in one place?

2. Disney World/Universal Studios

Contrary to what you may think, Disney World isn’t just for young kids and families, it’s for you too! We’re adults, but we’re not that old! There’s plenty of fun to be had at Disney World without being or having kids. There are tons of things to do at night (check out Downtown Disney!), and while all four Disney parks have liquid libations, Epcot is particularly great, because it’s the only place where you can try alcohol and drinks from different countries around the world! If Disney still isn’t your speed, Universal Studios has plenty of thrill rides that cater to both the kid and adult inside of you. Not to mention the Universal Studios City Walk features a variety of shops, a theater, bars and restaurants, and live music after dark!

3. Paris, France

Paris was listed as one of the cheapest places for young people in 2014. There are a number of reasons why Paris is one of the best places to visit right now from fashion and food to historic monuments and night life. There are many beautiful and historic places to visit in Paris including the Theatre du Chatelet where you can view some amazing plays. It also features a jazz club and café if theater and opera aren’t quite your thing. Wanderlust is a nightclub/ cinema/ bar that shows films and features a variety of live music by indie bands. If you’re looking to literally party from dusk til dawn, Wanderlust stays open until 6 a.m. And of course, you can’t leave Paris without visiting the Eiffel Tower! The “City of Light” just wouldn’t be the city of light without it right?

4. Maldives

If you’re not really in a partying mood and looking to get a little R&R on a beautiful island, then the resorts at the Maldives may be for you. Located in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean, the Maldives feature a bunch of tiny islands and plenty of amazing resorts on the beach, in the ocean, and below the water (yes there are underwater resorts in the Maldives too!). There are so many things to do and see from snorkeling and boat trips to spas and lots of restaurants. It’s the picture of paradise, and once you visit, you may never want to come back!

5. Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Rio de Janeiro is known for its festive Carnival celebrations, but it is beautiful year round. It features a number of beautiful sandy beaches like one of Rio’s most popular, Copacabana Beach. Rio is also known for one of its most iconic landmarks, Chris the Redeemer. This statue which is known as one of the Seven Wonders of the World shows Jesus Christ with his arms stretched out wide overlooking the city of Rio from the highest point of the Corcovado Mountain. Besides its natural beauty Rio also has a thriving nightlife, and it’s even more amazing during Carnival. Carnival is a five-day celebration that takes places 40 days before Easter starting on a Friday and ending on Fat Tuesday. It features lots of wild costumes, parades and parties that are sure to entertain all throughout the event.

There is no better way to celebrate freedom and youth than by traveling the world and having as much fun as possible before taking on the adult responsibilities that will inevitably come later down the road. So go out and gamble, scream your head off on a roller coaster, party hard in Rio, get pampered on a beach in the Maldives or take a tour of Paris. There are so many places just waiting to be explored!
