Meet this week’s campus cutie Rachel Fitzgerald. Rachel is Her Campus’ amazing head publicist and writer. She is from Amherstburg, Ontario and is majoring in English and Creative Writing as well as Visual Arts.
What are your hobbies? Â My hobbies involve art of any kind – visual, creative writing, and performance. My performance art mostly involves music because I’m the lead singer for Red and the Barron (like us on Facebook!).
What is your dream job? I have several dream jobs, and I intend to achieve all of them. I would love to continue teaching art, but I also want to start my own business, and I hope to one day teach English abroad. Of course I want to succeed with my art and music as well!
On a typical Friday night, what can you usually be found doing? A typical Friday night for me usually involves going to a party or downtown. I like to just get together with my friends and have a good time!
What are three things that you look for in a guy? I’m not too fussy when it comes to guys. If he seems cool, I’ll give him a chance. I do have a checklist though for what I would love in a guy as far as long-term relationships go. If he has career goals, an education beyond high school, a driver’s license, cares about health/fitness, and knows how to relax, then he’s a guy I could see myself trying something more serious with. To be honest though, I just want to have fun right now.
What is your version of a terrible date? A terrible date for me would be boring. No matter how nice a guy is, he has to capture my interest.
If you planned a date what are would you make sure it included? I don’t exactly plan things. I like to be spontaneous. So my “planned date” would include spontaneous behaviour, food (of course), and adventure! Like going to play laser tag or something like that.
What are your biggest pet peeves? Oh I have a lot of pet peeves, but I’ll try to keep it short for you. People who are slow, hypocritical, and negative really irritate me.
If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be and why? Pizza. I have an unhealthy relationship with pizza. I even have a t-shirt that says “pizza is my boyfriend.”
If you were stuck in the middle of nowhere without any form of communication, what would you do? I would hope I had my glasses on me so I could use astigmatism to my advantage and light a signal fire like they did in Lord of the Flies. I would probably then act out the entire story and try to portray every character at once. My rescuers would arrive to quite the show. I could only hope that they would show up at the end of the story because that would be funny as hell.
If you had to own an exotic animal which one would you choose and why? I would honestly love to own a wolf. I’ve always been so fascinated by the way they work with one another. To develop a bond with a wolf the way that they bond with one another in the pack would be amazing.
What is the craziest thing you have ever done? Would you do it again? Oh no, craziest thing I’ve ever done? I don’t know if I want this published on the Internet. I guess a good, angelic example would be that for every year in high school, I was in the yearbook for the Guitar Club photo. Every year we had more people. We never had a Guitar Club. They finally caught on in grade 12 but it was too late! I would definitely do it again.
What are 3 things that are on your bucket list? I have a long bucket list. A few things on it though would be to record an original album, own a matte black Maserati, and ride an elephant. I’ll achieve all three sooner than you think.
