On October third, Swifties from all over the world will unite for the first time since the end of the Eras Tour. As a fan, a new Taylor Swift album is like Christmas morning to me: gathering with loved ones and carefully unwrapping each song like a precious gift. When she announced her upcoming album, I rejoiced at the thought of hearing fresh music from her. This news means more songs to add to my playlists, blast in the car, and play on repeat. When she revealed the album cover, it made me wonder what the sound of this album could be. With that in mind, here are my hopes for Taylor Swift’s highly anticipated new album, The Life of a Show Girl!Â
My favourite Taylor Swift album is definitely 1989. I love the energetic city vibe it brings and the upbeat sound that accompanies it. As someone who enjoys pop music, I am excited for her new album and hope it will be just as fun and energizing to listen to. Although I appreciated the melancholic tone of The Tortured Poets Department, I am looking forward to hearing Taylor’s upbeat music again.Â
Her past four albums have focused more on storytelling through her lyrics. Those albums (Folklore, Evermore, Midnights, and The Tortured Poets Department) feel different compared to some of her earlier works, like 1989 and Reputation, which were more focused on sound and persona. I believe focusing more on the storytelling aspects of her songs was an excellent shift that really pushed her career in the right direction, showcasing her growth as an artist. However, with her new album, I am hoping for more upbeat songs and anthems.Â
Growing up, Taylor’s albums 1989 and Reputation were a significant part of my childhood. I have vivid memories of singing along to songs like “Wildest Dreams” and “Blank Space.” The nostalgic feeling of listening to Taylor’s pop songs is something I long for. Her older music reminds me of summer, those carefree days when I was not so worried about the future. I am curious whether this album will recapture those same feelings or create new ones entirely.Â
There is truly nothing better than experiencing Taylor’s music live. I am very hopeful that she will announce a tour soon after the album’s release. Unfortunately, I was not able to attend the Eras Tour, and because of that, I am determined to make it to the next one. I can already picture the stage and visuals she will use, just by the vibe the cover albums give me. Her tours are a special way for Swifties to get together, turning her music into an once-in-a-lifetime experience. And if she ends up announcing a tour, I hope to be one of the voices singing among the crowd. No matter where this next era takes us, I know it will be unforgettable.
