Sadie Lichty
Program: First Year Environmental Studies and Digital Journalism
Hometown: Windsor, ON
In celebration of UWin HerCampus’ launch, we’d like to introduce one of our very own members. Sadie is an exceptionally enthusiastic character who is driven to live the full experience of university by getting involved. Sadie joined HerCampus as a way of sharing news and ideas with others. She is an excellent inspiration to any first year university or college student who might be unsure about getting involved in groups and clubs.
Sadie has recently joined UWin’s Phi Sigma Sigma sorority which is,“one of the best choices I have made.”
Sadie believes it’s great for any student because the process of joining itself is exciting and competitive. Seeing so many people around campus who are part of her sorority is one of her favourite parts. She loves getting together with her sorority for sushi and study groups sessions.
Sadie is excited to volunteer with Phi Sigma Sigma and demonstrate her leadership abilities by taking part in various sorority activities. This year, they anticipate helping the breakfast program at General Brock Public School in Windsor and running events at UWin.
Her fascination with the environment and the pressing need to inform others of what is really going on in the world drove Sadie to her program choice. Sadie points out that her favourite course is Environmental Studies, taught by Dr. Phil Graniero, as the content is always new and interesting. She loves the interactive part of the DJ program at UWin and the opportunities to see and get involved with the sort of workplace a journalist would expect themselves to be in the future, such as the Windsor Star.
When not thoroughly busy with work, school, and her extracurricular commitments, Sadie appreciates a time out with her friends eating poutine at Frenchy’s Poutinery and riding her pony, Rosco.
Advice for Success? “Try and enjoy what you do. If you hate what you’re doing, you’re never going to be that successful. You learn better and do anything better when you enjoy it.”
