Homemade Starbucks Inspired Holiday Drink

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UWindsor chapter.

The moment that Jack Frost starts nipping at our noses, nothing gets us warmed up from the inside out quite like a festive Starbucks holiday drink. Although it may seem that no holiday drink is as satisfying as Starbucks, this homemade peppermint mocha  is definitely worth a try. This drink is the perfect blend of coffee and holiday zest. If you’re interested in recreating this drink, please keep reading for the recipe below!

You will need:

  • 1/4 cup of sugar

  • 1/4 cup of water

  • 3 teaspoons peppermint extract

  • 3 tablespoons powdered cocoa

  • 3 tablespoons warm water

  • 1/2 cup hot espresso

  • 1.5 cups steamed milk

How-to:

  • On your stovetop, add your sugar, water, powdered cocoa and espresso into your saucepan.

  • Allow your mixture to simmer for 15-20 minutes on medium heat, until all powdered ingredients have dissolved evenly.

  • Next, add your peppermint extract and steamed milk and mix well.

  • Transfer mixture from saucepan to your mug, and top with whipped cream!

I hope you enjoyed this Starbucks holiday inspired drink.
