HC Western Ontario’s Campus Correspondent Ariel V

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UWindsor chapter.

Program: Sociology and Criminology double major

Year: 4

Hometown: Los Angeles, California

Why did you join Her Campus? What positions have you experienced?

I joined HC because I’ve always loved writing, and the then-CC seemed so cool and friendly! I’ve been a Campus Expansion Assistant, and I’m currently a Chapter Advisor and Viral Writer for National, in addition to being the CC of HCWO!

What do you love most about being a CC? What do you find most challenging?

I love talking to all the girls and helping them write articles that they are passionate about. I think managing a large team has been the hardest part—trying to ensure that you’re having real, personal connections with everyone can be time-consuming, even though it’s worth it!

What are your plans after you get your degree?

After I graduate, I’m very excited to be going to Europe and Israel this summer, and then I am hoping to move back to the states and find a job or internship that I am passionate about and can devote my time to!

Do you have any advice for other existing or hopeful CCs?

My advice for existing and hopeful CC’s is to be sure you’re reaching out to everyone possible! Something that helped our chapter so much is the time I spent emailing and Facebook messaging different organizations on campus and hoping to establish partnerships with them. This helped us grow so much and increased our publicity so much!

What’s a day in the life of Ariel like?

My day in the life starts with me sleeping past my alarm and schlepping to class in the snow. My executive team and I are constantly chatting and brainstorming to make sure that our chapter is doing everything we can.
