Halloween Activities in Windsor-Essex!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UWindsor chapter.

Halloween is next week! I can’t believe that October is almost over and the *best* holiday is fast-approaching. This month flew by due to midterms, transitioning to a new semester, and other commitments that we all have, like work. If you’re like me and you want to make the most of the rest of October, then I’ve got just the fix for you – a week full of Halloween activities.

The first Halloween themed activity I would recommend checking out is the “Halloween Pub-Crawl” that is happening on November 1st. If you are eager to drink after these stressful rounds of midterms, then try going to this event. However, do not be discouraged if you do not drink. This is definitely the type of pub-crawl where you will be able to meet new people or even a chance for you to socialize with your friends without having to drink. Check out the Windsor SOS’ Facebook event.

You can also go apple picking with your friends. This is bound to be a positive and fun experience, even for those who may not be eager to embark on more scary-pursuits, but you can also check out the corn mazes which can be spooky to some. The apple season begins on September 5thand there is so much more to do besides apple picking, including sampling different foods containing apples, drinking cider, and having a good old time with your pals.

If you’re easily frightened or in need of a good adrenaline rush, I would recommend checking out the Scarehour Windsor mazes and events. They have more than just your typical chainsaw-wielding maniac running at you, and you are bound to be in for a great trick (no treats there!). This attraction is usually not recommended for children. Be sure to check this out with your friends, family, or other adrenaline junkies who are eagerly seeking a good scare.

Besides these attractions, you can also offer to take your neighbor’s children trick or treating. This can be a fun experience because you’ll get to see adorable little kids dressing up, be able to chaperone them from house to house, as well as get some free candy at the end of the night (if the kids want to share that is ;)). Either way, this is also a fun and engaging way to spend your night!

Lastly, you can get super creative and buy pumpkins to carve with your friends. Or you can go to the Halloween store or Party City to get some fun décor that you can use to decorate your house or to even throw a party for some of your closest friends. These options are definitely going to lead to a very memorable night that you and your squad will cherish for years to come. Here are some stores offering great Halloween merch:

Happy Halloween!
