With the ongoing pandemic, movies have become a huge way to distract our minds and look forward to something exciting! To celebrate the new year, I decided to compile a list of movies with confirmed release dates that we all can look forward to!

1. Marry Me (Releasing February 11th)

A Kat Coiro rom-com movie starring the one and only, Jennifer Lopez. This movie is first on my list because I am biased towards J-Lo and her amazing acting. The film was originally supposed to be released in 2021, but had to be pushed to 2022, so it is long-awaited!

2. Turning Red (Releasing March 11th)

This Pixar movie has me extremely excited as I love animated films! Although there is some talk about the disappointment of the movie heading straight for Disney+ streaming, it is still a movie to be excited for! A 13-year old girl who turns into a giant red panda every time she is too excited just seems to be the best plot for an amazing feel-good movie!

3. Lightyear (Releasing June 17th)

Starring Chris Evans. That’s all the movie needs for me to watch it. In all seriousness, after the end of the Toy Story franchise, everyone needs a prequel of the characters, and Pixar says they are not done with the stories of the individual characters. The movie will follow the astronaut, Buzz Lightyear, around on his journey through space travel.

4. Minions: The Rise of Gru (Releasing July 1st)

The lovely and chaotic yellow minions will be showing up on our screens once again this year, and I am here for it! We will see a young 12-year old Gru in the early 1970s. Steve Carell will be back as the voice of Gru, so we know it will be good!

5. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) (Releasing October 7th)

After the Oscar-winning 2018 Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, this movie is highly anticipated! With Shameik Moore back to voice Miles Morales, I just know this one will be just as good as the first!

6. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (Releasing November 11th)

This one hurts a little, as we did lose the Black Panther, Chadwick Boseman, to colon cancer in 2020. His character will not be recast, as the story will focus on King T’Challa’s sister, Shuri. There is not much information yet on which other characters will be making a return, but it will be special to see the tribute towards Chadwick.

These are only a few of the most exciting movies coming out this year and I literally cannot wait! From new animated films to bringing back characters from old, there is much to look forward to.

2022 seems set to be a good year!
