Yes, you read the title right! Today I am going to talk about the top 5 reasons why working at an ice cream store is an awesome job! I have worked at a local ice cream shop in Brantford called Dairee Delite for 8 years, and still work there. I love working there for so many reasons. If you are looking for a job, consider working at an ice cream store, and not only for the samples.
5. Colourful Uniforms
Where I work, we get colourful shirts with fun slogans. Some slogans include “life is short, eat dessert first”, “our lines are legendairee”, and “stressed spelled backwards is desserts”. These shirts are bright pink, yellow, blue, or green, and we can wear any socks and pants we want with them. I generally like to wear something fun, and found leggings with ice cream cones on them. People love my tights and shirts, and I like putting a smile on their faces. Sometimes the little things are one of the best parts of the job.
4. Dogs
We give out free doggy cones. Seeing a dog’s whole body wiggle with excitement when they see you at the window is awesome. Also, watching the dog lick the ice cream or devour the entire cone is a treat too. Pets are one of the great bonus of working at an ice cream store.
3. Fundraisers
Every year we do a lot of different fundraisers. Seeing the whole community come together to support a worthy cause will always warm your heart. This is a great part of the job because even if you are feeling sad, this is sure to put a smile on your face.
2. Kids’ Reactions
As much as giving dogs cones is awesome, giving kids cones is even better. Seeing them absolutely love their ice cream and think you are so cool is a pretty neat feeling. Hearing them tell their parents they want to work there like you when they are older is awesome. The kids are so polite and it is always funny to see their eyes get wide when you hand them their ice cream.
1. Conversations
An awesome part of working at an ice cream store is getting to talk to so many people. Everyone has a story, and you will get to hear a lot of them. You will also have great conversations with co-workers when the store isn’t busy. Time passes quickly when you have conversations with so many people.
I would highly recommend working at an ice cream store if you are looking for a job this summer. You will get to deal with money, learn about customer service, and have a lot of fun. I hope you have a great week, and find a job you enjoy as much as I enjoy mine!
