5 Cost-Effective Valentine’s Day Ideas – for All of Your Loved Ones!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UWindsor chapter.
Have you checked your calendar recently?  Valentine’s Day is coming up shortly, and

regardless of your relationship status, it should not be ignored.  Show your loved

ones how much they mean to you with these inexpensive date ideas that you can use

with your significant other, or even your friends and family!

1. Make Your Loved Ones Dinner.

Express your love by preparing a decadent meal, whether it is a romantic dinner for

two or a gathering of good friends over a big table of delicious food.  Making the

meal has two key benefits: 1) The extra effort will show your affection for those

whom you prepare the meal for, and 2) Not as much money will come out of your

pocket.  Get lots of ideas online for the perfect Valentine’s Day meal and your loved

ones will appreciate the gesture immensely.

2. Go Ice Skating.

This daytime activity will not just be fun, but it will also get your heart pumping!

And for those of you spending the day with your sweetheart, exercise, along with

being great for you, will release endorphins that will make your day even more

romantic.

3. Create a Video Message.

Use your creative side to create a video expressing your affection for your loved

ones.  Use the video to tell them how much you love them and share memories from

your time spent together.  If you have any photos or videos from those times, be

sure to incorporate those into your video.  This gift is something that your loved

ones can cherish forever!

4. Play a Board or Video Game.

Bond with your loved ones on February 14th over a game!  Not only will this be a lot

of fun, but also it will potentially make you closer with its competitive spirit.  Even if

you don’t own any board or video games, creating a game is easy.  Construct a game

of Pictionary by writing different topics on pieces of paper and drawing them from a

bowl.  You can also download an app like ‘Heads Up!’ that you can play on any smart

phone or tablet.

5. Write a Love Letter.

Just like the Video Message, this expression of love will last forever.  Your significant

other, your mom, or your best friend will love this gift because it openly expresses

appreciation in a way that will never be forgotten.  What’s the best thing about this

gift?  You can send it to your loved ones who are far away via snail mail!

On a low budget, it can be extremely challenging to celebrate Valentine’s Day with

your loved ones.  But don’t use that as an excuse to forget the day – it’s always the

thought that counts.  Share your love with one of these thoughtful ideas and have a

wonderful Valentine’s Day!
