When its raining and cold, all you want to do is get under the soft covers with a warm cup of coffee and because we live in Seattle, that’s almost an everyday activity. However, something seems to be missing. Oh Yes! A book…

Here is my list of 5 books to keep you company in the rainy weather:

  1. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë

Jane Eyre is a classic novel by Charlotte Brontë in 1847 and is still loved by people today. It is a love story between a Governess and a wealthy man. It is a coming-of-age book where the journey of the protagonist’s childhood to adulthood is witnessed. This book tackles many important issues such as feminism and class. The self-important and independent quality of Jane Eyre made the book quite ahead of its time.

2. The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown

This is one of those books which is impossible to put down. It is thriller novel based in Paris. After being suspected of a murder, the protagonist- Robert Langdon is on the run from the police. This book explores some religious and historical aspects. It is a book that will make you turn the page faster. It will keep you guessing about what happens next. A book that will always surprise you.

3. The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini

A simple yet powerful story about friendship, family and redemption. It is a story of a boy wanting to seek redemption from his childhood friend. Other than that, it also explored the growth of the relationship between a father and a son.

A book filled with emotion and sorrow that would leave you in tears

4. Divergent by Veronica Roth

Divergent is a sci-fi story based in the future. A place where you can be only one thing, Tris is more than one. She has to struggle and hide what she is from people who would kill her for what she is.

This a unique story about a girl who is different with a moral of embracing yourself and accepting all your qualities.

5. Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling

It would definitely be a crime if I didn’t include this in my list. This is my favorite series and would absolutely become yours if it already isn’t. I don’t think I even need to include the plot of the book.

This is one of those books that can be read over and over again and it still wouldn’t be enough. A story that can be enjoyed by everyone; from a 10-year old child to a 70- year old grandpa.

You will get a feeling of euphoria by getting lost in the magical and mesmerizing world of Harry potter. The only thought that would be in your mind after reading it is why didn’t I read it earlier?
