Wisconsin Has More to Offer Than Just Cheese and Beer

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UW Stout chapter.

If you’ve never been to Wisconsin, I can guarantee you that you’re probably thinking of it just like how I used to, that the state is only known for its cheese and beer lovers, but it’s not. Wisconsin is also known for its many exciting festivals.

In Chippewa Falls, WI you can enjoy your spring with many planned activities such as 5K fun run, petting zoo, bonfire and food vendors. This event is more like a community event but it is open to the public so anyone can go enjoy themselves on a hot summer day. This is something that the kids will love, an event like this is a great way for them to connect with other friends.

This next event had to make the list because of course, we’re in Wisconsin. The Wine feast will make you feel a part of Wisconsin drinking culture, except this one is more elegant. The community gathers around the Convention Center in Oshkosh, WI and can socialize with different people while drinking wine. This experience is different but it’s also relaxing as well.

If the wine drinking isn’t your thing, you can always head down to Madison, WI and participate in their Maifest. This event is fun for the family, plus it has free admission and free parking. Not only that but the Maifest also donates 15 percent of the event proceeds to the Dane County Humane Society so you’ll be supporting a good cause while enjoying your family day.

There you have it! Wisconsin is more than just cheese and beer. I mean, even if these events have some beer drinking contests, they still try to incorporate other things around it. So visit Wisconsin, or if you’re in Wisconsin go explore all the different festivals. What do you have to lose?
