I have never been one to stray from my usual nude makeup pallet. In fact, I used to be horrified at the idea of my eyeliner being anything but black. However, lately I have been feeling adventurous. Why does Kylie Jenner get to try fun things while the rest of us sigh in jealousy at her bold lipstick? So, I decided to make a drastic change in my routine. I was tired of being vanilla and I didn’t want to blend in, I wanted to stand out and be proud of my fierceness. So I made a trip to Ulta and stocked up. I purchased some blue eyeliner, green eyeliner, and some dark purple lipstick. When I got back to my dorm I went to work.
You know those colors in your eyeshadow pallet that you never use because you are a little scared? Well, I used those colors. Bright blue, deep red, and emerald green to name a few. My first look was a bright blue eyeliner with a shimmery gold shadow. I was hooked. Why one earth did I stick with the same silvers and browns my whole life? I realized I was missing out on a world of possibilities. Eagerly, I started to experiment and play around with the liners and shadows while pairing it all with a bold lip. I looked at some tutorials to get some ideas flowing as well.Â
I had a great time going out of my comfort zone and I can’t wait to experiment some more. Now that I have had a taste of something more interesting, I don’t know if I can even go back to my nude pallet. Don’t get me wrong, the browns and rose golds that I usually use are gorgeous. However, I firmly believe everyone should step out of their comfort zone once in a while and experience something new. You never know what will be your new trademark.Â
