The Top 3 Autumn Activities in Menomonie

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UW Stout chapter.

Despite the warm weather we have been having, it is officially autumn! Besides it being the season of PSLs and cozy sweaters, it’s the time of year to embrace the outdoors before shutting ourselves inside for the winter. To help get you get back into the swing of things, I put together a list of some of my favorite activities.

1. Govin’s Corn Maze

Possibly the corn maze to beat all corn mazes; each year Govin’s creates a new and innovative maze design. With clues to guide you along the way if you choose, you can brave the maze during the day or dare to complete it in the dark. The farm offers other fun activities including a hay bale jump, pumpkin cannon, and more. They sell fresh apple cider and donuts which are perfect as it starts to cool down. Of course, you can’t forget about their dogs that are always more than happy for a good bell rub.

2. Hoffman Hills

Wisconsin is known for its beautiful autumn scenery and Hoffman Hills offers you a bird’s eye view. Hike a variety of trails to reach the summit where a lookout tower is located. If you’re not afraid of heights, this is probably one of the best views in Menomonie. The sky-high tower looks down upon the changing colors for miles and is a perfect place to catch the sunset before everything turns to gray.

3. Menomonie Farmer’s Market

If you’ve never been to the farmer’s market in Menomonie, you have sadly been missing out. Not only does the market support local farmers and artisans, it is a great social gathering. With music often playing in the band stand and food trucks set-up nearby, it is a great place to spend Saturday mornings. During autumn, they sell seasonal produce including pumpkin, squash, and apples that are perfect for making pies. The Hmong farmers, that are a large part of the community, also put together some of the most beautiful flower bouquets that are sometimes half the cost of retail.
