If you live in an area where it sometimes snows as early as October, you know the struggle of deciding how much warmth you’re willing to sacrifice to look good on Halloween. I was born and raised in Wisconsin, and a good majority of my Halloweens have been frigid or at least a teensy bit chilly. Although sometimes I can push through it for the sake of a cute outfit or costume, I usually cannot stand being even a little cold. This year I’ve decided to take the warm and toasty route and pass the knowledge on to all of you.

Footie Pajamas / Onesies

Typically only for children in the past, footie pajamas and onesies are now made for adults; it’s a regular thing! Best of all, they are easy to get on and off and require little-to-no effort. This was the first category I explored, and I was not disappointed. Almost any costume you can think of has a onesie version you can buy, or you can get footie pajamas in a coordinating color and add accessories. One of my favorite ideas put together brown footie pajamas, a headband with small antlers, and doe makeup. Cute and so comfortable!

Hoodies

Like the onesies, costume hoodies take away a lot of the headache of putting a costume together. You can let it do all the work, or you can go the extra mile and add matching leggings, shoes, makeup, etc. Put as much, or as little effort into it as you want!

Zombie

The wonderful thing about dressing up as a zombie is that you can wear anything you want – literally anything at all.  You can be a “fresh zombie” and be mostly normal except for a splatter of fake blood on your mouth, or you can be a “stale zombie” complete with grungy clothes, makeup that looks like you’re decaying, and a profuse amount of fake blood.

Sim

If you’d rather stay away from the fake blood and theatrical makeup and still want to keep your normal attire, being a sim might your best bet. All you have to do is put a plumbob (the green diamond) onto a headband and call it a day!

Santa / Mrs. Claus

Are you addicted to Christmas? Do you want to celebrate it every day of the year? Well, this will help you out with at least one of those days! Dig out your Santa Claus hat and add some warm outerwear for a costume that is both cozy and festive!

Cruella de Vil

Want to stay warm, but also feel sexy? This costume is multi-layered to be both.  Start with a black dress or slip, heels, and long red gloves. Add a long faux fur coat from the thrift store, and don’t forget red lipstick and the iconic black and white hair!

Minion

Yellow sweater, overalls, goggles, black boots and gloves – BOOM! Done!

Feeling evil? Make the sweater purple and also wear a crazy purple wig. Act twitchy and eat everything in sight for bonus points!

Cat Lady

I would wear this, but I’m trying to postpone the inevitable. If you’re not afraid of jinxing yourself, go ahead and put your hair in curlers, wear a robe and slippers, and attach a profuse amount of fake cats all over yourself.
