Among the 9 deaths is Sarena Moore, 44, who was shot after being ordered back into her wheelchair by the shooter. Also killed were Lucero Alcaraz, 19; Treven Taylor Anspach, 20; Rebecka Ann Carnes, 18; Quinn Glen Cooper, 18; Kim Saltmarsh Dietz, 59; Lucas Eibel, 18; Lawrence Levine, 67, and Justin Dale Johnson, 34.
According to survivors, the gunman gave orders to victims and shot them even if they complied. Investigators from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said that he owned 14 firearms.
The Douglas County Sherriff John Hanlin refused to identify the shooter, saying, “I will not give him the credit he probably sought prior to this horrific act of cowardice. You will never hear me mention his name.” He urged news media to do the same.
