HC: Why did you choose to attend UW-Stout?
Jackie Barba: I chose UW-Stout because it seemed like the perfect fit for me. I like how the class sizes are small and how I know all of my professors. I also fell in love with the liveliness of the campus and the town of Menomonie.
HC: What’s your favorite place on campus?
JB: As lame as it sounds, the library. You could ask any one of my friends and they’d all tell you the same thing.
HC: How did you hear about HC UW-Stout?
JB: I heard about it from Campus Correspondent, Laura Bauman. She was in my PCEM Intro class last year and I heard she was starting a Stout chapter and I instantly wanted to get involved.
HC: What made you want to get involved?
JB: I became involved for various reasons. It pertains closely to my major, so it’s great experience to add to my resume. It’s so much fun. I always look forward to our Tuesday night meetings. We have amazing members who are all wonderful and very dedicated. Lastly, I really wanted to be a part of the creation process of this organization. Not even a year ago our HC chapter had barely 10 members, and now we have almost 30 and it’s still continuing to grow. It’s a really cool feeling to be able to reflect on how far our chapter has come and know that you helped that.
HC: What ideas do you have in store for the upcoming HC year?
JB: We have a bunch of cool ideas and events in store for this year. We are planning on doing some volunteer work as a group, collaborating with other campus organizations on fun events, and much more!
HC: Where do you get your inspiration from?
JB: A lot of my inspiration comes from my friends and family. I’m lucky because I surround myself with so many inspiring individuals, so it’s not hard to find inspiration.
