It’s Homecoming week here at UW-Stout and that means a lot of celebration and free activities for Stout students. Bring out your leis and your grass skirts because this year’s theme is When in Doubt, Luau at Stout: Homecoming 2015.
Although the week has already begun, there are plenty of hula-rific events to go around. So for those of you that haven’t been following, here’s a list of homecoming events that are truly a part of the Homecoming experience!
Dakaboom
If laughing is your cardio then come prepared to work out! At 8 p.m. on Wednesday in the Great Hall, Blue Devil Productions will be hosting Dakaboom: a postmodern music/comedy duo. It’s free for all students and will be sure to bring lots of laughs!
Couch-A-Thon
A time-honored Stout tradition, members of every student organization will be planting their butts on a couch in the Ampitheatre of the MSC for 24 hours straight. From noon on Thursday until noon on Friday you’ll find them there! Be sure to take a look as you’re walking to class or meeting up with friends. It could be you next year!
Stout’s Favorite Pizza
My personal favorite Homecoming festivity is known as Stout’s Favorite Pizza. From ten to eleven Thursday night gather outside the MSC to sample all different kinds of pizza, jam to some music, and vote for your favorite slice! Who doesn’t love free food?
Homecoming Comedian & Royalty Crowning
In case you missed Wednesday’s comedian or enjoyed it so much you wanted more, Taylor Tomlinson, to be seen on NBC’s Last Comic Standing this season, will be sharing her comedic flare on Friday at 8 pm in the Great Hall. And when you finally stop laughing, stick around for the crowning of this year’s Homecoming King & Queen!
Free Breakfast at Silver Dollar Saloon
The Menomonie Area Chamber of Commerce has got you covered when you’re on the quest to fill your bellies! Right before the parade, from 8-11, the Silver Dollar Saloon will be offering a free community breakfast.
Homecoming Parade
After breakfast, step outside to see the Homecoming parade at 11 a.m. on Broadway. See all of the fantastic floats and pick up some candy while you’re at it. This is the first time the parade has been brought back to Menomonie in four years!
The Football Game
The Homecoming football game is the biggest show of spirit of them all. Head down to the stadium for tailgating, live jazz music and school spirit! Kickoff starts at 2 but be sure to get there at 12:15 for the pre-game tailgate!
