How to Celebrate Galentine’s With Your Girl Gang

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UW Stout chapter.

Since Parks and Rec’s iconic Season 2, Episode 16 “Galentine’s Day”, we’ve been celebrating the best holiday known to womenkind; Galentine’s of course! Not sure what to do with your girl gang on this blessed day? Leslie Knope has some suggestions!

Dress to Impress

“Slowing down is not really my jam.”

364 days of the year you can rock sweats and old Uggs, but today is the day to go all out. It’s for you, it’s for your girls, it’s for your confidence.

Flowers

“I love you and I like you.”

What better way to show your girls that you appreciate them by suprising everyone with a bouquet of roses? Not to mention how they’ve been practically everywhere all week!

Brunch

“Why would anyone ever eat anything besides breakfast food?”

Leslie Knope always kicks off her Galentine’s celebration with lunch, and what a way to start!

Shopping

“No one achieves anything alone.”

When was the last time you got to do some window shopping, thrifting, or impuse buying? Galentine’s was made for this!

Spa Day

“You are the most beautiful, glowing sun goddess ever.”

It’s such an important day, and you want to be your best self. Take the gang out for mani pedis, or a full blown spa day!

Aesthetic Decorations

“Do it. Fierce. Power.”

If you’re throwing a little something together for the ladies in your life, take full advantage of the absolutely aesthetic decorations on sale. That is really going to make you feel like a Pawnee Goddess.

Specialty Drinks

“I’m gonna get drunk and then I’m gonna order a three-course meal where each course is made of dessert.”

Break out the cocktails, the mocktails, and the mixes. Unearth your mixology goddess.

Bonus Points: Make a drink menu based off the spectacular ladies of Parks and Rec! Leslie Knope is mostly vodka.

“I’m big enough to admit that I am often inspired by myself.”

Nothing gets you in the Leslie Knope spirit like celebrating Galentine’s to the fullest!

Like a lot of business majors, Stephanie has a favorite Andrew Carnegie quote, and like a good communication minor, has very strong opinions on the Oxford comma. Aside from being a Stout student, Stephanie is an avid fan of Bay Area sports, Fleetwood Mac, and the amazingly perfect show Dollface.
