Have the Perfect Date Night- for Yourself

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UW Stout chapter.

In the midst of internship searches, new classes starting, jobs, and all the little things that come with being a college student, it can sometimes be hard to even think about taking a break to focus on yourself. But sometimes, taking a night to stop, breathe, and relax is just what everyone needs. We often get so caught up in the hustle and bustle of life that taking care of ourselves gets tossed to the side. So, sometime this weekend, or even just a random Tuesday, put away the school work (if it’s not due tomorrow) and have a date night for yourself. You’ll be shocked at how re-energized you will feel the next day. Follow the next five ideas for the perfect date.

1. Take a Long Bath or Shower

Baths seem to be a luxury for us college students, but if you are lucky enough to have a bath in your house, use this night to take full advantage of it. Add in bath bombs, bubbles, and candles for the complete experience. If taking a bath is not an option, take a nice long hot shower, complete with music and body wash.

2. Face Masks.

Nothing relaxes me more then putting on a face mask.  Luckily for us broke college girls, Walmart, Target, and Amazon all have great options for under $7. My personal favorites are here and here.

3. Read a Book.

I love a good Netflix binge more than anyone, but sometimes it’s nice to take a break from staring a screen- especially when you’ve been working on your computer all day. Need ideas for a book to read? Pinterest has loads of great books lists for any taste.

4. Not Into Reading?  Watch a Movie You’ve Been Putting Off.

Chick flicks are my personal favorite to unwind, but Netflix offers plenty of amazing thrillers and documentaries too.

5. Eat Some Good Food.

Treat yourself to some Ben and Jerry’s. Order some pizza. Or really just eat anything that makes you happy and don’t worry about the calories. Healthy eating can resume tomorrow. Tonight’s about you, babe!
