This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UW Stout chapter.

Her

Name: Katie Hackl

Year: Junior

Major: Dietetics

Hometown: Green Bay, WI

Him

Name: Aaron O’Neill

Year: Junior

Major: Business Administration

Hometown: Macomb, IL

How long have you been dating for?

A year and a half.

HC: How did you two meet?

KH: Freshman year he sat in the back of my math class and called me “nerdy math girl” because he didn’t know my name.

AO: What she said and mutual friends.

HC: What did you do on your first date?

KH: We had been talking all summer over the phone, but had never hung out one-on-one in person before. I invited him to come to a lake day with my whole family and he drove to come meet all of them the same day we had our first “date.” Talk about balls.

AO: We met up halfway between Macomb and Green Bay in Northern Illinois to go paddle boarding on a lake and grill out all day with her family.

HC: Favorite memory together?

KH: Aaron got a bag full of soccer balls and took me to a field at a park! He spent the day trying to teach me tricks and attempting a one-on-one game.

AO: When she took me to my first NFL game at Lambeau field against the Lions last year.

HC: What’s your favorite thing(s) about one another?

KH: He’s got like three really bad dance moves that get me every time.

AO: She could go days without looking at her phone. It’s hard to find girls that forget where their phone is because they don’t look at it all the time.

HC: Favorite thing to do together?

KH: Going hiking/exploring and being outdoors! I also really enjoy long car rides because he can’t escape my singing and the conversation is great.

AO: Anything outdoors in nice weather, and her hot tub in Green Bay is a close second.

HC: General advice for dating during college?

KH: Don’t play games – tell each other everything, stay honest, and stay faithful. The person you’re dating should be your best friend. Also, don’t compare yourself to other couples or let social media be the cause of your fights!

AO: If you can’t trust the other one going out on the weekends without you, then don’t even bother in the first place. There’s plenty of other things to do instead of worrying about petty things like that.

HC: Which celebrity couple are your “goals?”

KH: I don’t know! I idolize my parent’s love more than anything.

AO: Is Dan Bilzerian a bad answer for this?

SPEED ROUND

Her Favorites

TV Show: New Girl

Food: Weird healthy things that I can’t even pronounce.

Sport to Watch: Beach volleyball

Favorite Spot on Campus: She spends a crazy amount of time on the 5th floor of the library.

His Favorites

TV Show: It depends… if he’s with me, it’s Bates Motel, but he turns into a closet nerd when he can’t sleep at night and watches Cosmos (a documentary on the galaxies and theories of space).

Food: Anything with cheese, bacon, and ranch. Preferably pizza with all of the above.

Sport to Watch: Soccer! It’s dangerous going on a date to Cancun because they always have games and highlights playing, he’ll call Cristiano Ronaldo sexy more times than he’ll hit on me.

Favorite Spot on Campus: Not in class?
