H.C. What activités are you involved with on campus?

B.J. Besides Rugby, nothing.

H.C. How long have you been play Rugby?

B.J. This is my third year playing; I started once I got to Stout.

H.C. What/Who got you interested in Rugby?

B.J. When I transferred to Stout I wanted to try something new. Some of my friends back home played it in high school and tried to get me to go out for it. I went to the backyard bash and saw there was a rugby team. When I got to the booth I was like “screw it, I’ll try it out!” I instantly fell in love with the game.

H.C. How is the team doing this year?

B.J. We are ranked in the top 25 in the nation for D2. Our only loses this year have come to whitewater, who is ranked #2 in the nation. We took second in the WIIL Conference playoffs. On November 15, we have a play in game against Northern Iowa for a spot in the round of 16 for the USA Rugby D2 National Tournament.

H.C. What position do you hold with the team? What do you do?

B.J. I am the team’s president. I do a lot of different things for the team. I deal with finances, paperwork, communicating with the University, and much more. I submit travel authorizations, purchase requests, facility requests, and I make sure all members are registered with USA Rugby. I am in charge of doing a budget request with SSA.

Our fall season is our regular season, but in the spring we don’t have a set schedule, so I am in charge of getting tournaments and scrimmages for our spring season. I also set up meeting times for the team. When we have home events I do the advertising. When we travel I am in charge of setting up rides, where we stay, when we leave, etc. This spring I am going to focus on doing more community service as a team. Because of the nature of our sport we usually get a bad rep, I want to do all I can to change that. An example of one thing I wish to do is the polar plunge this year. There is more than just this that I do, but those are my main tasks.

H.C. What would your dream job be?

B.J. I would probably have to say either physical therapist or athletic trainer. (Still In the process of deciding which one)

H.C. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

In 5 years I would like to already have a few years of experience in a health, wellness, and fitness career. Right around that time I hope I will be looking for a graduate school so I can go on and achieve my dream job of either Physical therapy or athletic training.

H.C. How old were you when you had your first kiss?

I honestly don’t know. My mom has a picture in my baby book of me kissing my neighbor at age 4, but actual real kiss I couldn’t tell you.

H.C. What qualities do you look for in a girl?

B.J. For me honesty/trust is the biggest thing. I have to be able to trust them, and be trusted by them. I want a girl that shares my same values and beliefs. Someone who lives an active, and healthy lifestyle. A Packer, Badger, and Brewer fan would be nice, but I’ve made exceptions before. Obviously I have to be attracted to the girl, but I don’t really have a set “type.” It doesn’t matter to me if they have blonde, brunette, or red hair. Height doesn’t matter to me. Basically someone who I can be myself around without worrying about looking dumb.

H.C. How many Nicholas Sparks movies have you seen?

B.J. I think like one and a half. Safe Haven, and half of the Notebook. I am pretty sure those are by that guy?

H.C. If you could have any superpower what would it be?

B.J. Teleportation. How great would it be to wake up 30 seconds before class, and boom, you’re there. Also visiting girls would be that much easier!
