Whether you’re planning on staying in, going out with a romantic interest, or hanging out with some friends, a much needed Valentine’s Day hangout is around the corner. If you’re in a crunch with a budget, unsure about what to do, or don’t want to drive a long way, these ideas are perfect for a local outing in Menomonie.

1. Stop by The Devil’s Punch Bowl

Address: 410th St, Menomonie, WI 54751

This is a student-favorite date stop! The Punch Bowl is one of the most beautiful sights in Menomonie. It was formed by 4.6 billion years of erosion and postglacial flooding. The winter is the primetime for tourists to see The Punch Bowl because of the water dripping out of the walls causing all of the long, beautiful icicles. Make sure to dress warm, and don’t forget a camera!!

2. While You’re At It, Take a Walk on the Red Cedar Trail

Address: Red Cedar Trail, Menomonie, WI 54751

Right around The Punch Bowl there’s also the Red Cedar Trail. You can rent snow shoes from Stout Adventures, and going on a walk there despite the chilly weather is so much fun! The Red Cedar Trail is miles long, so you can decide whether to make it a whole day adventure or only a couple hours.

3. Eat Dinner at Lucette Brewing Company

Address: 910 Hudson Rd, Menomonie, WI 54751

Nearby the Red Cedar Trail there is a super delicious restaurant called “Lucette’s”. For those of you who are 21, it is also a brewery with lots of different beers on tap, some of which they make on site. They have a wide variety of AMAZING wood fire pizzas, calzones, and salads.

4. Visit the Local Humane Society

Address: 302 Brick Yard Rd, Menomonie, WI 54751

If your date is an animal person, this place is the place to be. You’ll need to take a class before you’re allowed to do anything by yourself, but it’s offered very frequently. After you take the class, you can take dogs for walks, as well as hang out with the numerous cats they have. They recently underwent an expansion, so there are a couple interaction rooms to take the cats in now. Walking dogs is a cute and relaxing way to hang out with your date.

5. Catch a Movie at the Menomonie 7 Theatre

Address: 2521 Hwy 25 N, Menomonie, WI 54751

The movie option is always available in Menomonie. Tickets run from 6 dollars to 8 dollars after 6 o’clock. They have the typical tasty movie treats. This date would satisfy any movie junkie.

6. Go Antiquing

Address: Main Street

This date would be a fun, out-of-the-ordinary adventure! Menomonie has several antique stores right in a row on Main Street. They all have very different and unique personalities and hidden treasures. Depending on what kind of item you’re looking for, the pricing can run pretty cheap!

7. Go to Hoffman Hills Lookout Tower

Address (Coordinates): 44°56′45″N 91°46′37″W

Last but not least, you can take your date to the Hoffman Hills Lookout Tower! The view over the area is breathtaking. If you’re into hiking and other outdoors activities, there’s a really awesome hiking trail at the Hoffman Hills Park as well!
