4 Tips to Score Great Deals on Makeup and Beauty Products

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UW Stout chapter.

If you’re a beauty lover, you know how quickly the cost can add up. Sure you don’t need all of the products you buy, but when you love beauty, you tend to go a little crazy. Why not save some money in the process?

Sign up for all of the rewards programs

Sure, constantly having to enter your information in to a million websites can be exhausting, but it will save you money in the long run. Many makeup companies, especially stores, have rewards programs that give you points every time you shop. Some stores and cosmetic companies, such as Sephora, Ulta and NYX Cosmetics. After reaching a certain number of points, you are given free products or a huge discount. Some programs will even send you a free gift on your birthday. Just make sure that the sites you are entering information into is secure.

If you have the option, buy your products in a gift set

Gift sets have to be the most underrated miracles in the beauty industry. You can get multiple products you love for a huge discount. For example, the Tarte’s Rainforest of the Sea Eyeshadow Pallet Vol. II sells for $36. For $39, you can get the pallet, a full-size eyeliner, a deluxe sample size of a lipstick and a sample of concealer. With the difference of $3, you get four products instead of one. If you are not sure about sample sizes, just think about the last time you went through an entire lipstick or eyeshadow. It rarely happens, so if you have your eyes on a product, see if it comes in a gift set.

Coupon like crazy

Want to feel like you finally have your life together? Break out some coupons in the checkout line. You know those annoying coupon books you get in your mailbox each week that you would normally throw in the recycling? Try looking through them. Many times, you will find coupons for popular drugstore brands. Just make sure that you’re checking the expiration dates on these. Since they are mailed to virtually every household in your area, they tend to expire quickly. The good news is you will probably get more soon.

Download savings apps and check on savings websites

When you’re not up for keeping track of paper coupons, go digital. Download apps to your phone that allow you to search for sales and savings. RetailMeNot is one of my favorites. Before you get to the checkout line, search the store that you’re in and see if there are any deals. The app also allows you to search for online deals. It’s convenient because if you’re like most people, you always have your phone on you. That means you’ll always be able to find savings!

If you’re looking for justification to buy some more makeup, follow these tips to save you money.
