The Stages of Grief of a Packer Fan

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UW Lax chapter.

This past Sunday, the entire state of Wisconsin suffered a devastating blow. Sure, we still have our cheese and beer, but we lost Aaron Rodgers to a collarbone injury. As these terrible events unfolded, Wisconsinites probably found themselves experiencing the following emotions.

Shock

RODGERS IS DOWN? THEY’RE TAKING HIM TO THE LOCKER ROOM? WISCONSIN IS OVER

Denial

It’s just a little tackle. He didn’t even go down that hard. Why did they even take him off of the field? Get him back out there.

Desperation

Why isn’t he back in the game? He’s dead. That’s the only thing that would separate Rodgers and the Packers. We’ve lost him! He’s definitely dead.

Realization

He . . . broke . . . his . . . what? Really?

Second-round Denial

The doctors are wrong. He’s fine. He still has a left arm, doesn’t he?

Acceptance (kind of)

Even Aaron Rodgers isn’t invincible. Even though this year may not be our year, we still bleed green and gold, through and through.
