A couple days ago, one of my friends from camp sent me a letter in the mail. I couldn’t wipe the grin off my face as I tore open the envelope. Inside, her elegant handwriting covered the pages in colorful pen ink.

I instinctively reached for my phone to text her that I’d received it, but something stopped me. Writing a letter back just felt a little more personal, more cinematic. So, I saved the words I that I would have texted her and put them on notebook paper instead.

Now as I’m sitting here in Cool Beans, sipping my iced white mocha and scribbling away, I can’t help but be thankful that snail mail isn’t completely dead. There are certain emotions that can only be expressed through your own handwriting and doodles. I love getting letters in the mail, and I encourage you to write to your friends too. Add some fun stickers to spice it up even! I know that I will be writing to my pen pal often, in the hopes of keeping snail mail alive just a little longer.
