Do you ever find your self mid-breakdown wondering what you were supposed to do for homework for that one class on Sunday night? Do you ever find yourself frequently forgetting different assignments and quizzes for your classes? Then I’ve got one solution that will solve all your problems. That solution is to invest in a planner! Planners have many, many benefits. You may not have needed one in high school but a planner in college is such essential. No more forgetting your assignments, exam days, and different meetings you have to attend to. There are many reasons why you should have a planner in your life. In an article called, “Evidence- Based (Simple by Effective) Advice for College Students: Microaction and Macrochange” Shung Hee Chin did a study on college students at the University of Kentucky. It was found that using planners had very positive affects on college students, including a “great sense of being organized, less stressed, better time managements, and best of all, improved academic performance.” That sounds like the ultimate college dream for any UW-La Crosse student.

1. Keep your life organized

Feeling like you have no idea what you’re doing with your life is very common in college students. Having a planner makes it very easy to keep your life organized, and you will soon feel like the girl who always has everything together. Get some different colored pens and assign each of your classes to a different colored pen. It will make planning your days more fun!

2. Sense of Accomplishment

When you’re done completing a task, there really is no feeling like crossing it out in your planner, which gets you closer and closer to your goals.

3. Increase Productivity

According to Blog.paperblanks.com,“because you’ll be more organized and able to prioritize your tasks, you’ll be able to get more done. Basically, a day planner will lock you into a ‘system’ and keep you focused and moving towards your various goals.”

4. Reduce Stress

Like Shung Hee Chin said in his article, keeping a planner does have a way of reducing stress. If you write everything down that needs to get done each day, then you will be guaranteed to remember what it is you have to do that day, without getting stressed because, perhaps, you forgot. But first, you have to remember to write everything down right away before you forget!

5. You’ll always be on top of the game

Take the time to write down everything one month in advance so that you can really plan out the whole month. Another tip is to write down all of your quiz and exam days for each class right after getting the syllabus. That way it makes it very easy to plan out when you really need to be cracking down on studying to ace any and all exams and quizzes that come your way.
