Meet Alli Hampton! Sophomore, track athlete at UW-L!

Hometown: Cambridge, WI

Year in school: sophomore

Major/minor: Marketing/Organizational and Professional Communication Studies

HC: Describe yourself in 3 words.

Loyal, Energetic, and Alert

HC: What do you think is the biggest struggle being a college athlete?

The biggest struggle is balancing school, workouts and a social life. This is such a stereotypical answer, but it is also very true. Many things are important for a student athlete such as nutrition, sleep, and school work. I feel like it is something I have to remind myself daily so that I can find a happy medium between everything so that I can be successful on the track, in school, and within my relationships.

HC: What do you love most about being a college athlete?

The best part of being a college athlete is being surrounded by teammates who love the sport the same way that I do. I have built great friendships with so many girls which makes the team feel like a family. Everyone is so supportive and that motivates me during hard workouts and competitive meets.

HC: What do you hope to accomplish before you graduate?

For track, I would love the opportunity to compete at nationals. I traveled to both indoor and outdoor nationals last year to cheer on my teammates. The atmosphere was incredible and being able to compete in that kind of setting would be incredible. I would also like to travel to a few countries in Europe either other a summer or J-term. Recently, I’ve had a strong itch to travel the world, so I would like to explore different countries and dive into new cultures.

HC: What is your dream job?

My dream job is to do marketing for an agriculture company. My dad works in this field and through him, I have found a passion for it to. I love how agriculture is constantly changing and bringing new innovations to the market.

HC: What track events do you run?

200 and 400

HC: How do you see being apart of the track team will benefit you in the future?

I think that the strong work ethic that I put into track will help me in the future. It is something that takes time and energy and I think that once I am no longer a student athletic, I will be able to channel my hard work into a family and a career.

HC: What are your favorite songs right now?

“Brand New” by Ben Rector, “For Her” by Chris Lane, and “Star of the Show” by Thomas Rhett

HC: What do you like to do when you aren’t running?

I like relaxing outside of track and school. I bought a hammock this summer and have enjoyed taking it up the bluffs when it is nice out. I also enjoy hanging out with friends and watching movies.
