Spring is just around the corner!

I work at Dales Clothing, and we recently partnered with the Evolve Beauty Studio in Onalaska, Wisconsin to bring our spring looks to life with fresh makeup styles. To get a bit of beauty inspiration for this highly anticipated spring season, I interviewed beauty specialists Kathleen Pielhop and Alyssa Steinhause. The pair gave us their tips for creating the perfect look.

When asked for her best beauty tip, Kathleen responded, “Makeup is only as good as your skin care routine. If you’re not taking care of your skin, the perfect makeup application won’t be possible. People blame the makeup for creating a “cakey” look, but that’s not always true.”

I made sure to notice how Kathleen applied highlighter on Maggie. She said to apply the highlighter to the cheekbones, the region from the hairline to the temple, and the bridge of the nose. She mentioned that when wearing a tank top applying highlighter to the shoulders will tie the entire makeup look together, head to shoulders!

The question of the century: how to perfect the “cat eye” look? Kathleen and Alyssa explained to me that the key to the perfect liner is figuring out your eye shape and working from there. If your eyes tilt upwards vs. downwards, this will change your application process. If your eyes have a downward tilt, you apply the liner from the back corner of your eye up. If your eyes have an upward tilt, you apply from the eyelid and outwards.

Mascara… the holy grail of makeup. I don’t know about you, but I’m always on the hunt for the perfect mascara. When we asked Kathleen and Alyssa their go-to mascaras, they shared that Lash Paradise by Loreal and the Mark Jacobs Volumizing mascara are must-haves.

Eyeshadow and lip color are such a fun ways to tie an outfit together, but the trick is learning how to perfect it. Kathleen and Alyssa gave us the in-on a good lip and eyeshadow color for the upcoming spring months. For the lip, they suggested a very cool tone pink/light purple. For the eye, they suggested more natural colors, along with brown eyeliner for a cat eye or simply just mascara.

As far as makeup looks Kathleen has been loving recently, she shared that “super dewy skin with a structured brow, minimal eye makeup, and a bold lip” is a look she has been loving. To get this dewy look, applying moisturizer before makeup is a must, as well as using a setting spray during and after application.

Makeup has the influence to boost your mood and confidence in an instant! It can make you feel more put-together, collected, and ready to conquer your day. Kathleen also noted how empowered makeup can make you feel.

Thank you to Kathleen and Alyssa for sharing their knowledge and skills. Give these tips a try!
