What Colors to Wear this Fall and How to Rock Them

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UVM chapter.

Even though the temperature doesn’t feel as crisp as it normally does, the leaves are changing and that means fall! Cooler weather ironically calls for warmer colors… not to say that all your pastels aren’t winter appropriate though! If you’re looking for some new pieces this season, check out the following items in autumn colors like maroons, browns, and deep greens.

1. This maroon skater skirt from Charlotte Russe is a great fall transition piece. You can wear it alone on warmer days, or just add tights, a sweater, and boots for the chillier temps. Best part is, it’s under $20!

2. Just because it’s not summer anymore, doesn’t mean you can’t wear crop tops! This loose-fitting crop top from Urban Outfitters has long sleeves to keep you warm and looks great with a pair of high-waisted pants. Check out the brown and maroon colors perfect for the season!

3. Cardigans are some of my favorite layering pieces, and this one from American Eagle looks cute with pretty much anything—jeans, skirts, dresses, and more! I love the deep green color with a pair of brown riding boots and dark jeans.

4. A pair of brown riding boots can instantly pull together any outfit. Here are some from American Eagle under $100, but Steve Madden also has some great options for the fall.

5. This lace top from Victoria’s Secret is a beautiful light brown that is perfect for a date night. With a light jacket and skinny jeans, you’re definitely dressed to impress.

Don’t forget, there are plenty of ways to wear more spring and summer type clothes throughout the colder months! I still love to wear my floral summery dresses with tights, sweaters, and boots. The colors inspired by fall often get overlooked when people go shopping, so next time you’ve got some cash burning a hole in your pocket, try one of these items!
