Speak Up! Whispering Could Be Harmful For Your Voice

“Friends don’t make secrets, and secrets don’t make friends.”

We all know how the saying goes.

Though when it comes to those dirty little secrets, should we be speaking a little louder? According to the New York Times, whispering may actually be harmful to your voice. (Weird, I know!)

Anahad O’Connor, reporter for the New York Times, states in his article that according to the studies performed by several otolaryngists, whispering actually squeezes the vocal chords more tightly together than with regular speech, causing trauma to the larynx.

So what’s the solution he mentions in the article? Avoid whispering and start speak softly. Easy as that!
