If you are present on pretty much any social media platform, you probably have heard about the “red nail theory”. I hadn’t because clearly, I was living under a rock. @Girlbosstown developed this hypothesis by explaining on her Tik Tok what exactly happens when she has red nails, and how the male species may act differently. Apparently, having a sexy red manicure is supposed to attract more male attention than usual. One of my dearest friends Casey had to fill me in, considering we had made manicure appointments in preparation for our sorority formals. This opportunity could not have presented itself at a more perfect time, we HAD to put it to the test.

We were stoked as we strolled through the door of Blossom Nails, and even more excited when we left. We officially had the most perfect red claws, just in time for formals. My boyfriend was my date and Casey was bringing one of her best guy friends. I sent a picture of my manicure to my boyfriend, (as I always do) he said they looked so good. When he saw them in person, not much of a reaction. Unfortunately, I do not think I passed the red nail theory, not because anything bad happened, just because there was no significant change I could possibly link to my manicure. Casey, on the other hand, had a different experience (spoiler alert: it worked!)

Casey said she has never gotten more compliments on a manicure, from everyone, not just guys. She said there was a noticeable difference in the attention she was getting from guys in general, but it was subtle attention. Her date obviously loved the manicure and could not stop talking about how fabulous she looked all night. The biggest thing Casey noticed as part of this theory is that she got a lot more attention than usual from guys she doesn’t know.

As exciting as it is to test a theory about male attention, the biggest thing Casey and I both noticed is how much more confident we feel with our red nails. There is something so powerful about having long ruby red nails, and it totally trumps any male attention. If you have been meaning to test out the red nail theory, do it for yourself! These nails have made me feel like the baddest bitch alive, let that be your reasoning to get red claws sometime soon.
