My Life is GrUV: Embarrassing Winter Stories

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UVM chapter.

The cold is pretty awful, but all that comes with it (snow, ice, etc.) does bring some pretty funny and oftentimes embarrassing moments. Here are some of the most cringe-worthy and hilarious of them all:

I once wiped out on the “magic carpet” that brought people from the bottom of the bunny slope to the top. I took about 5-10 kids under the age of 8 with me. Worst part was that all you had to do was stand on it while it moved.

When I was running back to my friends in the cold I slipped on ice into a jazz-split and ripped my pants. I also slipped on ice and slammed my face into the ground when I was walking up the hill.

There was a guy I really liked and one night we finally decided to hang out. I was trying to show him how cute and fun I was to hang out with so I was skipping around being any idiot. I then decided how adorable it would be to tackle him into a snow bank we were about to pass. As I pulled him into the snow with me I landed right on top of a fire hydrant and I kid you not my tailbone still hurts.

I slipped on ice in heels and am currently waiting on the results from X-Rays in the hospital to see if my ankles broken!

My friend dropped her ID in her driveway and now it’s frozen under 2 inches of ice, she can see her face but can’t get it out.

I was skipping outside of my dorm and slipped on ice and cracked my chin open and had to get 6 stitches.

I slipped on a hill of ice and crashed into a dumpster.

Last winter I was walking home from work and called a friend to pick me up but decided to leave before she got there. I ended up meeting her at the intersection of College and North Willard where I slipped on ice and literally had to crawl across the sidewalk because it was too slippery to stand (in my nice work outfit). She just watched me from her car laughing.

My friend pushed me off a huge snow bank last winter and the next day my face was 10x’s bigger and I couldn’t go to my classes because I was to embarrassed of how swollen my face was.
