As someone who has been obsessed with Taylor Swift and her music since I was 7, you can probably guess that I am absolutely freaking out about the news of her 10th album being released on October 21st called Midnights. Swifties from all over the world are bombarding my TikTok and Instagram feeds with various theories surrounding the album, the song titles and the potential themes of the album and I thought that I’d give my two-sense on the topic being the die-hard fan I am.

I want to back track first to when Taylor initially announced the news of her 10th studio album on the VMAs back in August when she won the biggest award of the night: Video of the Year for All Too Well the Short Film (a personal favorite of mine). Since the release of her albums Folklore and Evermore, fans have been conspiring that there is an unreleased album that would complete the trifecta that both Folklore and Evermore were a part of. After hearing that the Midnights album is a “compilation of the stories of 13 sleepless nights” scattered throughout Taylor’s life, I firmly believe that Midnights is the sister album to Folklore and Evermore, which makes me so freaking excited.

After the news of TS10 broke the internet, Taylor started a series posted on her TikTok and instagram reels called “Midnights Mayhem with Me” where she would use a bingo-esq ball to reveal the titles of each of the 13 track titles on the Midnights album one by one. Over the past few weeks, each of the titles were revealed and in my personal opinion I am the most excited for Tracks 1, 3, and 4. Track 4 is called Snow on the Beach and features one of my favorite artists Lana Del Ray. I fully believe that Track 4 of this album will fully break me considering that for years I have been talking to my friends about the mere possibility of Lana getting featured on a Taylor album and how this would be, in my eyes, the ultimate musical collaboration. Track 1 is called Lavender Haze and in an Instagram video, Track 1 is called Lavender Haze. In a video posted on Instagram… Taylor explains that this song is about the moment where you finally find out that the person you are falling in love with is also falling in love with you. This song’s description is so romantic and I totally believe that it’s about when Taylor met her current boyfriend Joe Alwyn, 6 years ago. Track 3 is called Anti-Hero and will be the first music video made for the Midnights era that will be released at 8 am on October 21st. Anti-Hero is Taylor’s personal favorite on the album as she notes in an Instagram video, and she explains that the song is a tour through the aspects of her life she doesn’t love about herself and coming to terms with them. The description of this song I believe is truly something that we all think about and deal with day to day but never talk about it, so I’m eager to hear what Taylor has to say and how I react.

I could go on and explain how excited I am, but words really cannot describe how I feel. If you ask any of my friends they are not kidding when they say that I haven’t stopped talking about this since the news was announced. Just like all of her past album releases, I am already preparing myself well for this week by front loading all my homework, meetings, and work as a whole, because I am fully prepared to send myself down the rabbit hole that is Miss Swift, with no obligations or due dates on that day. I’m sending so much love to all the Taylor Swift fans like myself because I know that I am not the only one who is going to need emotional stability and support after October 21st.

Sending much love and support to all my fellow swifties <3

Xoxo,

Emma
